TWO MORE BACK TO LIFE BABIES - TWIN BIRTH IN MUGU
We're glad! The two boys saw the light of day at 12:49 p.m. and 1:04 p.m. local time. One weighs 2500, the other 1600 grams.
Our midwife Nirmala has been accompanying the expectant mother for months. After an examination on March 7, Nirmala found Sharmila being exhausted and the babies in unfavorable positions. She therefore decided that the twin birth in the Birth House would be too dangerous. In an arduous, 14-hour walk, our team brought the heavily pregnant Sharmila to the only hospital in the region that could also perform a caesarean section if necessary. With this, Nirmala saved the young mother's life, the doctors say.
Mother and infants will remain in Gamgadhi for a few more days until they gained enough energy to walk the long way through the mountains back to their village Raskotibada, in Gamtha. Our team takes care of them.
