Leprosy aid – the stories of sufferers

Tingla – artist with no fingers

Despite his severely deformed limbs, Tingla can draw and paint very well and makes beautiful engravings. We therefore thought about ways for him to apply his talent and skill to earn a living. Through our contacts, we managed to get him a number of commissions for wall murals (mainly of Hindu gods, who would prevent people from urinating against walls and houses).

Tourists and friends of our projects bought pots decorated with engravings by Tingla, who thus was able to earn money without having to beg on the streets. While Tingla is very proud of his work, he suffered many setbacks in his life and is battling some personal problems. As a result, he works unfortunately only sporadically. However, he knows that his talent is his opportunity to change his life for the better.
